I has created a tools

It's a home made "clinometer". I'm gonna use it to figure out the angle this phenomenon's at. Then I'm gonna use a compass (the thing you use to figure out where north is, not the circle drawing thing) to figure out above what spot the thing is (probably directly above the spotlights). With those two measurements (angle and distance) I can calculate at what height it's at, and hopefully the size of it. Math rules! Pythagoras, you the man.

Now to find a compass accurate enough for this feat.
